WASHINGTON C: Iran and Israel have paused direct attacks but Tehran warns it will resume them if Israel’s operations in Lebanon continue.
According to Axios, US President Donald Trump bluntly warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “be careful, or you will be on your own very soon,” as Israeli strikes on Beirut and Iran threaten the US ceasefire.
Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated Tehran “disrupted” the truce because it was on paper only and marred by “repeated violations” on the ground.
Concurrently, military actions and casualties persist. US CENTCOM disabled an Iran-bound oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman—the seventh vessel struck since the US blockaded Iranian ports in April.
In Lebanon, Monday’s Israeli strikes killed at least 12 people, including a woman and child, and wounded four paramedics, raising the death toll since March to 3,637.
Meanwhile, US Representative Thomas Massie has called for a new inquiry into Israel’s 1967 attack on the USS Liberty, which killed 34 US service members and injured 170.
