KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has prohibited strikes and shutdowns in 25 essential service sectors to ensure uninterrupted public services, issuing a formal notice in the Nepal Gazette.

The Ministry of Home Affairs invoked provisions of the Essential Services Operation Act, 1957, under which the order is regularly renewed every six months.

The ban covers key sectors including communications, transportation, electricity and water supply, healthcare, banking, petroleum and LPG supply, waste management, and passport and consular services.
