KATHMANDU: The Ambassador of Egypt to Nepal, Sherif Mostafa Alsayed Aldiwany, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav today.

During the meeting held at the Vice President’s Office in Lainchaur, the two leaders discussed the long-standing friendship, goodwill, and mutual understanding between their respective nations.

Vice President Yadav expressed satisfaction over the cordial relations maintained between Nepal and Egypt since the establishment of diplomatic ties on July 16, 1957.

He noted that the establishment of the Nepali Embassy in Cairo in 1966 and the Egyptian Embassy in Kathmandu in 1970 stands as a testament to the warm bilateral relations between the two countries.

Yadav also expressed pleasure over the second meeting of the Nepal-Egypt Bilateral Consultation Mechanism taking place in Cairo today after a long hiatus.

He shared his optimism that the high-level meeting would lead to the signing of important agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs), opening up new avenues for bilateral cooperation.

Furthermore, Vice President Yadav expressed satisfaction with the close collaboration between Nepal and Egypt on common issues across global platforms, highlighting that both countries are founding members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and active participants in the United Nations, G-77, and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

He emphasized that both nations share a common stance that the relevance of NAM will endure as long as injustice, marginalization, and poverty persist in the world.

On the occasion of Egypt’s National Day, the Vice President extended his congratulations and best wishes for continued peace and prosperity to the Egyptian President, the government, and the friendly people of Egypt through the Ambassador.

In response, Ambassador Aldiwany reiterated Egypt’s commitment to further strengthening the friendship and cooperation with Nepal.

“Egypt is ready to support Nepal in every sector, with a specific interest in boosting military and agricultural cooperation,” the Ambassador stated.

“Egypt wants to help supply chemical fertilizers to Nepal. Additionally, we are eager to invite Egyptian agricultural experts to Nepal to help uplift the country’s farming standards,” he added.
