The National Assembly is meeting at 1:15 PM on June 9 (Tuesday) with lawmakers scheduled to begin a general discussion on the government’s annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for fiscal year 2026/27.
According to the agenda, Chairperson Narayan Dahal will inform the House about bills certified by the Office of the President, while Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle will table a proposal seeking approval to commence the budget debate. He is also scheduled to present a proposal to consider the Alternative Development Finance Mobilization Bill, 2026, received from the House of Representatives.
The budget discussion is set to begin after three consecutive National Assembly meetings were disrupted by opposition protests over Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s remarks on the Nepal-India border issue. Opposition parties have demanded that the Prime Minister retract and clarify his statement that Nepal has also encroached on Indian territory.
