KATHMANDU: In a significant political development, Sudhan Gurung is poised to make a comeback as the Minister for Home Affairs in the Balendra Shah-led government.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Gurung’s official oath of office and secrecy has been scheduled for 3 PM today at Sheetal Niwas, the President’s Office.
Gurung had previously stepped down from the high-profile ministerial portfolio following a series of controversies, primarily involving undisclosed assets and financial irregularities. In response to the allegations, the government had formed an independent investigative committee to look into the matters.
Following a thorough investigation, the committee recently granted Gurung a clean chit, clearing him of the allegations. With his legal hurdles removed, the administration has moved swiftly to reinstate him to lead the Home Ministry once again.
