NEW DELHI: In a high-level joint operation named Operation Sindoor, Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes on nine terror-linked sites—four located in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot, and five in PoK Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources cited by ANI, the operation involved coordinated efforts from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, deploying both troops and advanced weaponry.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was closely monitoring the operation overnight, sources confirmed. All nine targets, reportedly linked to terror outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), were successfully hit. These locations were believed to house top leadership figures responsible for orchestrating attacks on Indian soil.
An official statement from the Ministry of Defence confirmed that the strikes took place in the early hours of Wednesday, aimed specifically at terrorist infrastructure from where operations against India were being planned.
The Ministry emphasized that the strikes were “focused, restrained, and non-escalatory,” clarifying that no Pakistani military assets were targeted. The action, according to the government, was in direct response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national.
The operation involved the use of precision-guided munitions, including loitering drones, sourced from all three military branches. The intelligence-driven strikes were executed entirely from Indian territory using coordinates provided by domestic intelligence agencies.
However, tensions escalated shortly after the operation when Pakistan breached the Ceasefire Agreement by firing artillery in the Bhimber Gali area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch-Rajouri sector.
The Indian Army, according to officials, is responding in a “measured and calibrated” manner. In a post on social media platform X, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information confirmed the violation and reiterated India’s restrained military response.
