Comment Moderation Policy
Our Goal
At Nepal News, we encourage readers to discuss, debate, and engage with the content we publish. Our aim is to create a platform that is inclusive, respectful, and safe, where readers can share intelligent commentary, challenge ideas, and engage in constructive dialogue.
We believe open discussion is essential for a healthy public debate, but it must be balanced with responsible behavior and respect for all members of our community.
Moderation Process
All comments submitted on nepalnews.com or via our mobile applications are moderated before publication. We do not edit comments for content, but we may correct minor spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors for readability.
- Comments are reviewed by trained moderators to ensure they comply with this policy.
- Moderation may take several hours, depending on the volume of submissions.
- Once approved, comments become visible on the site and may also appear in our print publications.
Guidelines for Commenting
To maintain meaningful and constructive discussion, all users are expected to follow these guidelines:
- Respect Others: Do not post language that is offensive, discriminatory, or targeted at a person, group, or community based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, disability, or appearance.
- Example: “X community can hardly be expected to perform this job.”
- No Personal Attacks: Avoid attacking authors, contributors, or fellow commenters.
- Example: “The writer has clearly been paid off to write this piece.”
- Stay On-Topic: Comments should relate to the article or discussion. Off-topic remarks may be removed to keep discussions focused and meaningful.
- Avoid Legal Risks: Do not post defamatory, libelous, or copyright-infringing comments. Comments that could lead to legal action will not be approved.
- No Commercial Promotion: Comments of a commercial nature, including advertising or frequent external links, are prohibited.
- Sensitive Content: Comments quoting religious texts, promoting terrorism, inciting violence, or engaging in hate speech will be deleted.
- Spam & Repetition: Repeated or identical comments across multiple posts will be removed.
- No “Shouting”: Comments written entirely in CAPITAL LETTERS are discouraged and may be removed.
Comment Duration
- Comments are generally open for 72 hours from the moment an article is published.
- In exceptional cases, moderators may extend the discussion window for particularly significant topics.
