Corrections Policy
At Nepal News, the trust of our readers is our most valuable asset. That trust is earned every day through our commitment to accurate, verified, and fact-based journalism. Our audiences know they can rely on us to get the big stories right because we are equally attentive to the smallest details.
The credibility of Nepal News depends on delivering precise and reliable information. In the digital space, where content spreads instantly, even a small error can mislead readers, distort public opinion, and erode trust. That is why acknowledging and correcting mistakes is essential to protecting both our journalism and our reputation.
Nepal News does not hesitate to correct errors. Timely corrections, clarifications, or apologies demonstrate accountability and reinforce our commitment to the truth. Responsible journalism is not defined by the absence of mistakes, but by how promptly and transparently they are addressed.
We acknowledge that errors may occur despite strong editorial safeguards. When they do, we correct them swiftly, explain what was wrong, and clarify what is right. No matter how small, every error is corrected—because accountability and integrity are at the core of our journalism.
How to Make a Complaint
If you believe we have published inaccurate or misleading information, please send us the following details:
- The title of the article in question.
- The date it was published.
- Where it appeared (online/print).
- The nature of your complaint (in no more than 300 words).
- The part of the Editorial Policy you believe it breaches.
By submitting a complaint, you agree to respond promptly to any follow-up requests for clarification or additional information.
Appeals Process
We welcome complaints and feedback from anyone who reads our news. This is an important opportunity for us to correct errors and uphold our commitment to accurate journalism.
- If a journalist or staff member notices an error in their own work, they must promptly notify their supervisor or a senior editor before any correction is made.
- Staff must report mistakes immediately, ensuring swift and responsible action.
- When a factual error is identified, we clearly indicate it in an editor’s note. Corrections are labeled as such—euphemisms are not used.
- Significant factual errors are corrected with appropriate prominence to ensure readers are fully informed.
- If a news item contains misleading information, omissions, or serious inaccuracies, a clarification or correction will be published alongside the original report, referencing the previous content.
- Minor errors (e.g., typos, grammar, numerical mistakes, or small factual inaccuracies) are updated directly without altering the overall article.
The Process
- Reporters, sub-editors, and desk editors promptly report errors to senior editors.
- Editors review the issue and implement corrections without delay.
- Corrections and clarifications are published transparently to maintain credibility and reader trust.
If you are dissatisfied with our final response, you may request an independent review through the Editor-in-Chief, who will evaluate an external assessment of the Desk Editor’s decision.
Complaint Handling Process
- Once we receive your complaint, you will get an acknowledgment email promptly.
- If your complaint is under review, we aim to contact you within two hours.
- We will provide a substantive response within two days of receiving all necessary details. Complex cases may take longer if additional verification is required.
- Multiple complaints on the same issue may receive a consolidated response.
- Nepal News will publish an appropriate correction, clarification, or apology—on the relevant webpage, links, or both.
Our Principles
- Complaints will be handled fairly, courteously, and with respect.
- We expect the same courtesy from complainants and may decline to pursue cases that are abusive or offensive.
- If we do not hear back from you within 2 days, we will consider your complaint resolved and closed.
- Nepal News reserves the right to amend this policy as required. The latest version will always be available on our website.
