KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) to stay unified, dignified, and goal-oriented.
During the inauguration of the “NRNA Global Conclave” on Wednesday, he emphasized the need to avoid behaviors that contradict the organization’s objectives. He called for abandoning narrow-mindedness and focusing on high-level unity.
He stated, “It is inappropriate to have disputes in an organization that should be united. The institution cannot function by changing the constitution for individual gains. Disagreements and conflicts during the General Assembly send the wrong message. Let reason and logic prevail, and the organization should not be a platform for personal interests.”
PM Oli also emphasized that NRNA’s focus should be on protecting the rights of the Nepali diaspora, preserving culture and traditions, and contributing to the country.
“Party politics should not interfere, and attempts to divide will not succeed. The government of Nepal will support lawful matters,” he added.
He expressed confidence that current NRNA President Dr. Badri KC’s tenure is valid and that the organization will hold a democratic and legitimate General Assembly to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
PM Oli also assured that the government will work on necessary legal amendments related to the NRNA based on suggestions received.
