KATHMANDU: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that Nepal’s transition to a federal republic is the result of the tremendous and tireless efforts of its citizens.

Extending her best wishes via social media on the occasion of Republic Day, the former President described the republic as a historic political achievement. She emphasized that it is the collective responsibility of all citizens to further institutionalize and strengthen this system.

She called one and all to contribute to keeping republic norms and values and its ideologies intact from their respective quarters. She added, “This political transformation has paved the way for accelerating socio-economic development. It serves as an inspiration for us to strive for excellence in various sectors, including education, health, information technology, and infrastructure.”

She further urged for unified efforts to fulfill the aspirations of the people for a prosperous nation. Nepal’s first female head of state expressed her hope that Republic Day would inspire the government, all political parties, and relevant institutions to launch a broader campaign to empower the country, including in the economic sphere.
