KATHMANDU: Three judges newly appointed to the Supreme Court—Meghraj Pokharel, Shreekanta Paudel, and Shanti Singh Thapa—have taken their oath of office and secrecy and started hearing cases from Tuesday.

They were appointed by President Ram Chandra Paudel on Monday following endorsements from the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.

The oath was administered by Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut. After assuming office, the judges participated in the case allocation process.

On Tuesday, a total of 10 benches—including one full bench—were formed at the Supreme Court, with 294 cases scheduled for hearing.

The newly appointed judges are hearing cases in joint benches.
