PM Oli Visits Flood-Hit Areas In Rasuwa: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has returned after conducting an on-site inspection of the damage caused by flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district. During his visit, PM Oli discussed the extent of the damage, ongoing rescue and relief efforts with local administration officials, people’s representatives, and residents. He expressed concern over missing persons, damage to the Rasuwa Customs dry port at the Nepal–China border, and the loss of cargo containers swept away by the flood.
Floods Cause Major Losses in Rasuwa; 7 Dead, 20 Missing, 55 rescued: The Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa district, caused by continuous heavy rainfall, has resulted in significant damage and loss of life. So far, seven bodies have been recovered, while 20 people remain missing—including three police personnel, six Chinese nationals, and eleven civilians. Among the missing are two individuals from Gorkha’s Palungta Municipality-6, Dil Bahadur Tamang and Dhan Bahadur Tamang. Earlier reports from the Armed Police Force indicated 15 people missing at the customs yard, comprising nine Nepalis and six Chinese nationals. Rescue efforts by the Nepali Army, police, armed police, and locals have successfully saved 55 people, including 51 men and 4 women.
Massive Flood Damages Pasang Lhamu Highway, Disrupts Rasuwagadhi Connectivity: A massive overnight flood in Lhendekhola near the Nepal–China border has washed out sections of the Pasang Lhamu Highway, cutting off vehicular access to Rasuwagadhi and severely disrupting connectivity in Rasuwa district. Local authorities report that intense rainfall caused the flood, blocking the Syafrubesi–Rasuwagadhi section of the highway in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality–2. The flood triggered landslides and severe road erosion, hindering transportation and ongoing rescue operations in the area. The Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal stated that the surging waters of the Bhotekoshi River swept away eight electric vehicles from an EV charging station in Timure and nine container units from the Rasuwa Customs Yard.
RSP, RPP Boycott Today’s House Session Over Visit Visa Scandal: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) boycotted the parliamentary session on Tuesday, demanding the formation of a parliamentary investigation committee into the visit visa scandal. Both parties rejected the committee led by former Chief Secretary Shankardas Bairagi, which was formed to investigate the allegations involving Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. At the beginning of the session, RSP MP Sobita Gautam and RPP Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi stated their parties’ positions and announced the boycott.
PM Oli, top leaders of coalition partners hold talks at Baluwatar: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held an hour-long meeting with top leaders of the ruling coalition on Tuesday at his official residence in Baluwatar. The meeting was attended by Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who arrived at Baluwatar shortly after concluding an internal party meeting. Alongside him were Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. From the CPN-UML, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel and Deputy General Secretary Bishnu Prasad Rimal were present.
Foreign Minister Rana Holds Bilateral Talks with German Foreign Minister Wadephul in Berlin: On Tuesday, Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba held bilateral discussions with Germany’s Foreign Minister Dr. Johann David Wadephul in Berlin. The talks focused on Nepal-Germany relations, bilateral interests, and various shared concerns. During the meeting, Minister Dr. Rana acknowledged Germany as one of Nepal’s largest and oldest development and trade partners. He expressed gratitude for Germany’s continued support in economic, social, and other sectors. Speaker Ghimire Confident Special Committee Will Complete Inquiry on Federal Civil Service Bill Errors Ahead of Schedule: Speaker Devaraj Ghimire has expressed confidence that the special committee formed to investigate errors in the report on the Federal Civil Service Bill will complete its work before the deadline. This was shared by committee coordinator Jeevan Pariyar following the first meeting of the special committee held Tuesday at the Parliament building in New Baneshwor, where Speaker Ghimire was present. He emphasized that the committee will deliver its report within its jurisdiction and on time. Pariyar further stated that the committee secretariat is situated within Singha Durbar and has already begun work to fulfill its responsibilities within its assigned mandate.
MP Sobita Gautam Alleges Nepalis Who Left with PM Oli’s Spain Delegation Have Not Returned: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Sobita Gautam has claimed that some individuals who traveled to Spain under the pretext of attending a program involving Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli have not returned to Nepal. Speaking during Tuesday’s session of the House of Representatives, Gautam stated that the issue is not limited to Tribhuvan International Airport alone but is part of a larger network that lures Nepalis abroad under the guise of various programs. Prime Minister Oli and his official delegation had departed for Spain on Asar 14 (June 28).
Three Newly Appointed Supreme Court Judges Take Oath and Begin Hearing Cases: Three judges newly appointed to the Supreme Court—Meghraj Pokharel, Shreekanta Paudel, and Shanti Singh Thapa—have taken their oath of office and secrecy and started hearing cases from Tuesday. They were appointed by President Ram Chandra Paudel on Monday following endorsement from Parliamentary Hearing Committee. The oath was administered by Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut. NEA Executive Director Shakya Releases List of Achievements in First 100 Days: On Tuesday, Hitendra Dev Shakya, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), held a press conference to publicly share the list of accomplishments he achieved during his first 100 days in office. Doctors Halt Services Nationwide, Demand Amendments to Consumer Protection Act: Doctors and healthcare workers across Nepal, under the leadership of the Nepal Medical Association (NMA), have suspended all medical services except emergency and ICU care in protest against the Consumer Protection Act, 2018. The nationwide strike, announced by the NMA on Monday, has seen participation from both public and private hospitals, including clinics. The NMA is demanding amendments to the Act, strongly opposing the categorization of medical services under general consumer services.
National Human Rights Commission Urges Immediate Restoration of Health Services Amid Doctors’ Protest: The National Human Rights Commission has called on the Nepal Medical Association and the Government of Nepal to immediately resume health services. Dr. Tikaram Pokharel, the Commission’s Secretary and spokesperson, issued a statement drawing attention to the deprivation of citizens’ rights caused by the ongoing doctors’ strike led by the Nepal Medical Association since yesterday. The statement urged that uncertainties and ambiguities in the health sector be resolved through meaningful dialogue and negotiations. NEPSE Drops by 0.14 Points Today: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has slightly declined today. The NEPSE index dropped by 0.14 points, settling at 2,683.86 points. A total of 150,27,372 shares from 304 companies were traded in 56,276 transactions today, resulting in a total turnover of NPR 5.57 billion (Rs. 5,741,668,14). Despite the overall drop, several sector indices saw gains. The Development Bank sector rose by 0.41%, Finance by 1.25%, Hydropower by 0.59%, Investment by 0.08%, Manufacturing and Processing by 0.37%, Microfinance by 0.07%, and Trading by 0.38%. However, the rest of the sector indices declined.
Floods Cripple Major Hydropower Projects in Rasuwa, 200 MW Supply Disrupted : Massive floods entering Nepal from the Kerung and Lende rivers in China have caused severe damage to major hydropower projects in Rasuwa district. According to Baburaja Maharjan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chilime Hydropower Company, power production of up to 200 megawatts has come to a halt due to the floods. CEO Maharjan said that the 111-MW Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project, the 60-MW Trishuli 3A, the 21-MW Trishuli, and the 15-MW Devighat project are currently non-operational. Among them, Rasuwagadhi and Trishuli 3A have sustained significant damage and cannot be restored to operation anytime soon.
Nepal’s Balance of Payments Records Rs 491.44 billion Surplus: Nepal’s balance of payments (BoP) has recorded a surplus of Rs 491.44 billion. In the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, the amount of foreign currency entering Nepal has exceeded the amount going out by this figure. According to Nepal Rastra Bank, the surplus during the same period last year was Rs 424.70 billion, and in the previous month, it stood at Rs 438.52 billion. In just one month, the surplus has increased by around Rs 53 billion.
New Record Set in Remittance Inflow: A new record has been set in the inflow of remittances. In the month of Jestha alone, remittances worth Rs 176 billion entered Nepal, marking the highest monthly remittance inflow to date. Prior to this, in Baisakh, the country had received Rs 165 billion in remittances. With this, the total remittance inflow in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year has reached Rs 1.532 trillion. This is 15.5% higher than the amount received during the same period last year.
Nepal’s Economy Expected to Expand by 4.8% in Q3: Nepal’s economy is estimated to expand by 4.8% in the third quarter (Magh–Chaitra) of the current fiscal year 2081/82 (2024/25). According to statistics published by the National Statistics Office, this estimate is based on a comparison with the same quarter of the previous fiscal year 2080/81. All economic sectors are expected to show positive growth during this quarter. The construction sector appears to have gained momentum during this period.
Nepal’s Inflation Drops Further to 2.72 Percent: Inflation in Nepal has declined further. According to data published by Nepal Rastra Bank on Tuesday, the year-on-year point-to-point consumer inflation stood at 2.72% as of the end of Jestha. During the same period last year, inflation was at 4.17%. According to the central bank, during the review period, inflation in the food and beverage group was 0.54%, while inflation in the non-food and services group stood at 3.94%. Last year, these two groups had inflation rates of 5.85% and 3.097%, respectively.

Since Tuesday, the song has also entered the trending music charts in the United Kingdom and Canada. In Nepal, the song reached the top spot in the main YouTube trending category on Tuesday. This makes it the second Nepali song to achieve this after Durgesh Thapa’s ‘Dushman Hereko Heryai’. ‘Behuli’ had already been trending in the music section for several days. The song entered 27th place in Canada’s YouTube music trending chart and ranked 24th in the UK. It holds the 2nd position in Australia and Malta, 5th in the UAE, 8th in Qatar, and 12th in Kuwait.
Comedian Manoj Gajurel Returns to ‘Comedy Darbar’ After One-Month Break: Comedian Manoj Gajurel, who had been absent from four episodes of the TV show ‘Comedy Darbar’, rejoined the program on Tuesday. Iran Says At Least 1,060 People Were Killed in War with Israel: Iran’s government has issued a new death toll for its war with Israel, saying at least 1,060 people were killed and warning that the figure could rise. Saeed Ohadi, the head of Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, gave the figure in an interview aired by Iranian state television late Monday (July 7, 2025). Mr. Ohadi warned the death toll may reach 1,100 given how severely some people were wounded. During the war, Iran downplayed the effects of Israel’s 12-day bombardment of the country, which decimated its air defences, destroyed military sites and damaged its nuclear facilities.
