BHAIRAHAWA: Thai AirAsia is set to restart direct Bangkok–Bhairahawa–Bangkok flights from Kartik 9 (October 26), operating twice a week on Sundays and Wednesdays.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has approved the airline’s winter schedule.
The airline had previously launched commercial flights from Bhairahawa on Kartik 18 last year (November 3, 2024) but later suspended operations.
Currently, no regular international flights are operating from Gautam Buddha International Airport, though chartered flights continue.
Despite government promises of incentives, international airlines, including Nepal Airlines, have shifted focus back to Kathmandu.
Calls to establish essential offices—like those for medical tests, labor clearance, and visa processing—have gone unheard, making it difficult for Bhairahawa to support regular international departures.
Local tourism leaders say the lack of supporting infrastructure remains the main barrier to full international operations from Bhairahawa.
