KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held discussions today with the leadership of Suryabinayak Municipality, the National Sports Council (NSC), and the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) regarding the construction of a new stadium in Suryabinayak, Bhaktapur.

During the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, PM Oli said the current Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu is too small, and consulted stakeholders on arranging the necessary land and infrastructure for a larger stadium.

Suryabinayak Municipality informed the Prime Minister that the process to provide 200 ropanis of land in Ward No. 8, Jagate (site of the old brick tile factory), would be expedited.

PM Oli announced that the new stadium would be a modern facility capable of hosting at least 50,000 spectators.

Present at the meeting were Mayor Basudev Thapa, NSC Member Secretary Tanklal Ghising, ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, among others.
