KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank has started the exchange of new banknotes (clean notes) for the Dashain festival from today. Bank will distribute the clean notes until September 26.
Although the bank had initially planned to start the distribution from Sunday, there was uncertainty due to the political instability in the country caused by the ongoing Gen-Z movement.
The clean notes can be exchanged at the Currency Management Department in Thapathali as well as at the provincial offices of the central bank located in Biratnagar, Janakpur, Birgunj, Pokhara, Siddharthanagar, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi.
However, as the physical infrastructure of the central bank and other banks has not suffered significant damage, officials have confirmed that the note exchange can proceed as scheduled.
