Maoist Center to Hold Special General Convention in Mid-December

The CPN (Maoist Center) has decided to convene its special general convention in mid-December. A two-day Central Committee meeting concluded on Friday formed a General Convention Organizing Committee under the coordination of party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal. “All Central Committee members will also be part of the organizing committee. A secretariat of current office bearers will be formed to oversee daily functions,” said party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota.

PM Karki Has No Social Media Accounts, PMO Clarifies

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has clarified that Prime Minister Sushila Karki does not have any social media accounts. In a press release issued on Friday, spokesperson Rabilal Sharma stated that there are no official social media handles under the Prime Minister’s name. The statement further noted that fake IDs have been created using the name of PM Karki on platforms such as Facebook and X, where news posts are being circulated.

Unified Socialist Forms Negotiation Team for Party Unification Talks

The CPN (Unified Socialist) has constituted a negotiation team to initiate unification talks with the CPN (Maoist Centre). The team will be led by senior vice-chair Beduram Bhusal, according to a statement issued by party chair Madhav Kumar Nepal. The negotiation panel includes senior leader Pramesh Hamal and vice-chair Prakash Jwala. The statement said the talks would be guided by mutually agreed ideological grounds. The party outlined key points for unification: adopting the name “Communist Party of Nepal,” acknowledging that the Nepali revolution has advanced from the democratic to the socialist stage, and identifying the main contradiction in society as between the general public and the comprador-bureaucratic capitalist class.

Two Dead, One Seriously Injured in Dhanusha Motorbike Accident

Two people died and one was critically injured in a motorbike accident in Dhanusha on Friday. According to District Police Office Chief SP Narahari Regmi, 18-year-old Amit Yadav and 16-year-old Kush Mishra of Baanarjhula, Janaknandini-5, died on the spot after their motorbike went out of control near Khoksaha bridge between Maachi and Lagamaa of Kamala Municipality-2. Seventeen-year-old Rahul Mahato, who was riding pillion, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at Provincial Hospital Janakpurdham, police confirmed.

EU Ambassador to Nepal Pays Courtesy Call on Minister Ghising

Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal, Veronique Lorenzo, has today paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kulman Ghising, who also looks after the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Tranasport, and the Ministry of Urban Development. In the meeting held at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation at Singha Durbar, Ambassador Lorenzo congratulated Minister Ghising on behalf of the European Union and wished him a successful tenure, according to Minister Ghising’s secretariat.

Nineteen Cabinet Decisions Made Public

At a press conference held at the Ministry of Communications on Friday, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel made public the 19 decisions taken by the Cabinet meeting held on Thursday. According to Kharel, the meeting decided to transfer the Revenue Investigation Department and the Department of Money Laundering Investigation, which were under the Prime Minister’s Office, to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance. Similarly, the National Investigation Department has been shifted to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Home Minister Aryal Directs CIB to Reopen Cases Halted Under Political Pressure

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal visited the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police on Friday morning. During his visit, Aryal instructed the bureau to reopen and investigate cases that had been previously stalled due to political pressure. “If there are any cases that were stopped, make a breakthrough,” Aryal told CIB officials. He emphasized that the government has initiated work to ensure good governance and stressed the need for joint efforts. “The ministry will provide the necessary support, and the CIB must work in line with the ministry’s spirit,” he said.

Smooth Traffic Resumes on Narayangadh–Muglin Road

The Narayangadh–Muglin road section, which had been blocked repeatedly for a total of 105 hours within a week, has been operating smoothly since last night. The road had remained obstructed for a long period due to repeated landslides at Tuin Khola since Friday. According to Narayan Lamichhane, Chief of the Chitwan Division Road Office, two-way traffic movement resumed at Tuin Khola from 11:35 PM on Thursday after the landslide debris was cleared. He also stated that there is no immediate risk of further landslides at the site, so there is no need for concern at present.

Former President Bhandari Warns of Serious National Crisis

Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that the country is in a serious crisis. An earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale struck Ramechhap this afternoon, the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center stated. The tremor with its epicentre at Bhatauli of Ramechhap occurred at 2.14 pm. Before this, a 4.6 magnitude-earthquake with its epicentre around Patihalne Bhanjyang on the border between East Rukum and Baglung was recorded on September 17.

Finance Ministry Launches Integrated Office Management System

The Ministry of Finance has launched an Integrated Office Management System. On Friday, Finance Minister Rameshore Khanal inaugurated the system by approving files through it. He said the system was introduced under the plan to make government works simple, efficient, paperless, cost-effective, transparent, and effective through a single IT platform. The system has been made mandatory in the Finance Ministry.

NRB to Provide Relief for Businesses Affected by Gen Z Movement

The Nepal Rastra Bank has announced relief measures on Friday for businesses affected by the Gen Z Movement. The central bank, in line with the government’s announcement, will extend loan repayment deadlines, provide loans at just 0.5 percent premium, and allow up to 80 percent financing for vehicle purchases. Customs Reference Price List Replaced with Valuation Database System

The government has replaced the controversial “reference price list” system in customs valuation with a “valuation database system.” The Department of Customs under the Finance Ministry began piloting the new system at Biratnagar Customs Office on Wednesday. The system is expected to bring transparency, fairness, and uniformity in Nepal’s customs administration, facilitate legitimate trade, and help control revenue leakage.

NRB Increases Daily Transaction Limit for Mobile Wallets

The Nepal Rastra Bank has temporarily increased the daily transaction frequency limit for mobile wallets targeting the festive season. Previously, an individual could make up to 10 transactions per day, but now the limit has been raised to 40 transactions per day. The provision will apply from Fulpati (Seventh day of Dashain) until Kojgrat Purnima (full moon day of Dashain). The Bank said the decision aims to facilitate digital “Dakshina” payments during the festival.
