KATHMANDU: Continuous heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions have forced the diversion of seven international flights today.
According to Tej Bahadur Paudel, spokesperson for Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), flights arriving in Kathmandu were rerouted to alternative destinations due to unsafe weather conditions.
A morning Air India flight from Mumbai to Kathmandu was diverted to Lucknow, while a China Eastern flight was rerouted to Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Similarly, an Air Asia flight from Bangkok was also diverted to Lucknow.
A flight from Narita to Kathmandu was diverted to Delhi, and another Air India flight from Delhi returning to Kathmandu was sent back to Delhi.
Additionally, an Air Arabia flight from Abu Dhabi was diverted to Varanasi.
Paudel added that two Qatar Airways flights are currently on hold in the air.
The heavy rainfall has also disrupted domestic flights across the country, affecting numerous passengers.
