KATHMANDU: The risk of heavy rainfall continues across Nepal.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast intense rain in Koshi Province starting Sunday afternoon.

Heavy downpours on Saturday disrupted transportation in several areas of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, with roads blocked by landslides and some bridges washed away.

In response, the government has suspended long-distance vehicle operations from October 4 to 6.

Similarly, traffic police have prohibited vehicles from entering or leaving the Kathmandu Valley.

Authorities have imposed strict restrictions on travel to mitigate risks from monsoon-related disasters.

Some passengers who departed early Saturday morning are now stranded along the way, with police directing many to safer locations.

Major highways remain partially blocked by landslides, and road clearance in areas with damaged bridges is expected to take time.

Meanwhile, rainfall in the Kathmandu Valley has temporarily stopped in recent hours.
