GORKHA: The northern belt of Gorkha district has witnessed a snowfall in the autumn season, which often takes place in winter.
The Samdo area of Chumnumbri Rural Municipality-1 in the district received snowfall on October 6, a rare incident during autumn.
Nima Gyalgen Lama, a local resident there said that the normal life was affected after the snowfall. “The snow is heavier this season compared to the one taking place in the winter season,” Lama said, adding that the snowfall occurred this time impacts potato farming.
But, Lama shared that the snowfall has not impacted the crops much as it is not that intense.
According to Lama, snow has started melting from Tuesday afternoon after the moderate sunlight.
The farmers are likely to harvest their crops immediately after the weather gets cleared.
The Samdo village lies at an altitude of 3,890 meters above the sea level and the potato and buckwheat are the key agricultural products. Tourism is the main business here.
