RAMECHHAP: Continuous rainfall on October 3 and 4 triggered flooding in the Roshi River, washing away major sections of the BP Highway and causing severe disruption to vehicular movement.
As a result, small and large vehicles traveling from the Tarai and eastern districts have started using alternative routes.
The diverted route runs through Khurkot–Manthali–Charikot–Mude–Khadichaur toward Dolalghat. To manage traffic flow, Ramechhap Traffic Police have enforced a one-way system: vehicles heading to Kathmandu are being sent from Devkota Chowk in Manthali through the police office and bus park, while vehicles arriving from Kathmandu are routed from the bus park via Kataharbot Chowk back to Devkota Chowk.
According to Police Information Officer Kaushal Neupane of the Ramechhap District Police Office, vehicles commuting between various Tarai regions, Koshi Province, and Kathmandu have begun using this alternate road as a temporary solution.
He added that police personnel remain actively engaged to ensure smooth travel for passengers returning to their workplaces after the Dashain festival.
