DOLAKHA: Four foreign tourists who were stranded on their way back from a meditation and pilgrimage trip to Lapchi Monastery in Bigu Rural Municipality–1 of Dolakha district have been rescued.

According to Assistant Spokesperson of the Armed Police Force (APF) Shailendra Thapa, the tourists were rescued on Thursday morning by a joint team of the APF personnel from the Border Outpost at Lamabagar and the Nepal Police.

They have since been airlifted to Kathmandu. The group — two Russian and two Swiss nationals — had been staying at Nasa Hydropower in Iluk, within the same rural municipality, after the road was blocked.

They had left the monastery on October 7 to return to Kathmandu, but a dry landslide along the unpaved Lapchi road in Lamabagar halted their journey, forcing them to remain at the hydropower station until rescue teams arrived.
