KATHMANDU: Nepal’s total foreign exchange reserves have nearly reached Rs 2.9 trillion, according to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
The central bank released the country’s current economic and financial status on Tuesday, reporting that total reserves, which stood at Rs 2.67 trillion at the end of fiscal year 2024/2025, increased by 7.6 percent to Rs 2.8 trillion by mid-September.
Of the total foreign exchange reserves, holdings at Nepal Rastra Bank increased from Rs 2.41 trillion at the end of fiscal year 2024/25 to Rs 2.58 trillion by mid-September, marking a 6.9 percent rise.
Similarly, reserves held by banks and financial institutions (excluding NRB) grew from Rs 263 billion at the end of fiscal year 2024/25 to Rs 298 billion by mid-September, a 13.7 percent increase.
