KATHMANDU: The body of Nepali citizen Bipin Joshi, who was killed while in the control of the Palestinian armed group Hamas, has arrived in Nepal.
The body reached Nepal from Israel at 2:35 PM on Monday.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki paid tribute to Bipin Joshi, expressing condolences to his grieving family and praying for his soul’s peace.
A memorial service was held at Tribhuvan International Airport, attended by Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Kulman Ghising; Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal; Minister of Information and Communication Technology Jagadish Kharel; Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal; Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai; and Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Shmulik Arie Bass, among others, who also paid their respects.
Arrangements have been made to transport Bipin’s body by plane today to Dhangadhi and from there to his home in Kanchanpur.
The body was brought to Nepal with coordination from the Nepali Embassy in Israel and support from the Israeli government.
Bipin Joshi, a Nepali student who was abducted and taken to Gaza following Hamas’s attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, was formally confirmed deceased by the Israeli government on October 14, 2025.
Ten other Nepali students also died in the October 7 attack.
