Ram Kumari Jhakri, Kisan Shrestha among 50 leaders to rejoin UML

KATHMANDU: After the merger of the Madhav Kumar Nepal–led CPN (Unified Socialist) into the Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’–led Nepali Communist Party, several leaders from the Unified Socialist have decided to return to the CPN (UML).

Among them, prominent leaders Ram Kumari Jhakri and Kisan Shrestha, along with more than 50 central committee members, are set to officially rejoin UML on Monday.

In preparation, Jhakri and Shrestha met UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and General Secretary Shankar Pokharel on Thursday at Gundu, Bhaktapur, to discuss their return.

According to UML leader Mahesh Basnet, the group will formally rejoin the party to be held at 3 PM on Monday at the Rastriya Sabha Griha (National Assembly Hall), Kathmandu.

Several former lawmakers are also expected to join them.

Jhakri and Shrestha had publicly announced their decision to return to UML during an event at Hotel Basera in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
