KATHMANDU: A joint meeting of officials from the Federal Parliament and the Provincial Assemblies was held on Friday at Singha Durbar.

The meeting was convened at the call of Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, according to the Secretariat of National Assembly Chair Narayan Dahal.

During the meeting, several officials from both federal and provincial parliaments expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that the current interim government had disregarded and undermined the legislative bodies.

They voiced particular concern over the decision of the Sushila Karki-led interim government to cut expenditures, describing it as a move that devalues parliamentary institutions.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire said that the conclusions and concerns raised during the session would be conveyed directly to President Ram Chandra Paudel.

He added that the participants had reached a common understanding that the government’s recent decisions amounted to disrespect toward the authority and dignity of the Parliament.
