KAVREPALANCHOK: The Security Printing Press located in Panauti Municipality–5, Kavrepalanchok, is being prepared to become fully operational within the next six months.
If the center achieves its planned targets, it will be able to provide nine types of paper-based services during this period.
Currently, the printing machines, including the internal revenue stickers that have been organized at the center, will be cleaned, reinstalled, and brought into full operation, a process expected to take six months.
Some machines may require skilled personnel to be brought in from abroad, according to Devraj Dhungana, Executive Director of the Security Printing Center under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
According to him, once fully operational, the center will be able to provide nine types of paper-based services, including citizenship certificates, internal revenue stickers, land ownership certificates, postage stamps, and visa stickers.
“The center is developing separate plans for services based on documents, cards, and banknotes,” Dhungana added.
So far, more than Rs 3 billion has been invested in the physical construction and equipment management of the center.
Dhungana stated that machines worth Rs 500 million have already been installed.Once manpower and equipment management are in place, the center will be capable of providing 11 types of services.
He further stated, “With the 14th amendment to the procurement regulations, previously blocked contracts are now open. Seven contracts are already in place within the center. If regular operations are ensured, billions of rupees currently spent abroad for printing can be saved by the Government of Nepal.”
