KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has been on a continuous decline for the past six trading days. NEPSE which has been falling since last week, also saw a drop on both trading days this week. On Sunday, the NEPSE index fell by 21.48 points, and today it decreased by an additional 3.02 points to settle at 2,606.67.
According to NEPSE, shares of 331 companies—totaling 10,146,400 units—were traded 83,273 times today, amounting to a total turnover of NPR 4.66 billion.
In today’s trading, the hydropower group increased by 0.12%, life insurance by 0.50%, manufacturing & processing by 0.61%, non-life insurance by 0.05%, and the trading group by 0.41%. All other sectoral indices declined. Banking fell by 0.67%, development banks by 0.11%, finance by 0.57%, hotels & tourism by 0.23%, investment by 0.16%, microfinance by 0.29%, mutual funds by 0.04%, and the “others” group by 0.21%.
Upper Syange Hydropower Limited, Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Jhapa Energy Limited, and Srinagar Agritech Industries Limited hit the positive circuit today. The biggest loser was Support Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha Limited, whose share price fell by 5.16%.
In terms of transaction amount and number of shares traded, Ngadi Group Power Limited topped the chart with 1,348,861 shares traded, amounting to NPR 558.66 million.
