NEPSE edges up after three-day decline

KATHMANDU: After declining continuously for the past three trading days, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index posted a slight improvement today. The NEPSE index increased by 3.27 points to settle at 2,584.49.

According to NEPSE, a total of 7,668,915 shares of 328 companies were traded through 92,746 transactions today, resulting in a total turnover of NPR 3.42 billion (NPR 3,429,893,942).

In today’s trading, the banking sector rose by 0.10 percent, finance by 0.20 percent, hotels and tourism by 0.10 percent, hydropower by 0.29 percent, manufacturing and processing by 0.25 percent, microfinance by 0.17 percent, and the others group by 1.28 percent. All remaining sectoral sub-indices declined. Development banks fell by 0.16 percent, investment by 0.34 percent, life insurance by 0.79 percent, mutual funds by 0.11 percent, and non-life insurance by 0.16 percent.

Shares of SY Panel Nepal Limited recorded the highest gain of the day, rising by 7.01 percent. Meanwhile, Citizen Life Insurance Company Limited saw the largest decline, with its share price falling by 5.97 percent.

Based on both transaction value and number of shares traded, SY Panel Nepal Limited led the market, with 391,371 shares traded worth NPR 309.8 million (NPR 30,98,17,308) today.
