KATHMANDU: The Private and Boarding Schools’ Organization Nepal (PABSON) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oxford University Press (OUP) India today.
According to the MoU, the OUP will make the globally recognized Read with Oxford series, which is a part of the trusted and popular, Oxford Reading Tree Programme, available to PABSON member schools as a specially curated pack of 70 books at a highly subsidized rate. It is stated that this will significantly improve access to graded and quality reading materials for students across Nepal.
Similarly, the MoU states that the OUP through its professional development team based in the UK will run dedicated online training sessions for PABSON schools adopting the RWO resources. The sessions will aim to upskill teachers with best reading practices and strategies that they could incorporate to their reading lesson in classrooms.
It is stated that the OUP will also support the establishment of a resource and learning centre at the PABSON Central Office, offering sample books, teaching materials, and professional learning resources.
PABSON said that it shall encourage its member schools to reap benefit of the Read with Oxford series by purchasing the subsidized pack and implementing a whole school culture for reading. It stated that the member schools will be recommended to add dedicated time for reading on the school calendar, so the benefit reaches the learner.
Both PABSON and Oxford University Press India view this MoU as the foundation of a long-term partnership dedicated to nurturing confident readers, equipping teachers with modern skills, and empowering forward-thinking school leaders, the PABSON stated in a press release today.
“By combining PABSON’s extensive national network with OUP’s global expertise in publishing and literary development, this collaboration is poised to create a lasting and positive impact on Nepal’s education system,” reads the press release.
With a history of 35 years, PABSON represents more than 5,000 private and boarding schools throughout the country and has long been committed to providing high-quality, purposeful education to Nepali students.
