KATHMANDU: Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Harka Sampang, resigned from his post on Sunday evening. He is the central chairperson of the Labor Culture Party, which has recently been strengthening its presence in Koshi Province.

Sampang, who won the 2079 (2022) local election as mayor carrying a symbolic walking stick, has resigned to contest the House of Representatives election from Sunsari Constituency No. 1.

He submitted his resignation letter to Dharan’s Deputy Mayor Aindra Bikram Begah, who was elected from the CPN (Maoist Centre).

Earlier, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah had also resigned from his post to contest the parliamentary election.
