KATHMANDU: The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) participated in the Travel and Adventure Show 2026 held in New York, United States, with the aim of further promoting Nepal’s tourism globally.

The event took place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on January 24–25. The United States has long served as a significant source market for Nepal’s tourism industry. In 2025, 102,316 tourists from the US visited Nepal, making the United States the second-largest tourist source market for the country.

Nepal’s participation in the New York event was organized in collaboration with the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN).
The United States is a highly important source market for Nepal and currently ranks as the second-largest tourist-generating country.

Through this participation, Nepal aimed to further strengthen its presence in the US market, engage with travel trade partners, and inspire American travelers to experience Nepal’s unparalleled natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and adventure tourism offerings, according to the NTB.

Six other companies: Asian Heritage Treks & Travels Pvt. Ltd., Explore Vacation Pvt. Ltd., Friends Adventure Team Trekking & Mountaineering Pvt. Ltd., Himalayan Glacier Adventure & Travel Company Pvt. Ltd., Nepal Vision Treks & Expeditions Pvt. Ltd., and Touch Kailash Travels & Tours Pvt. Ltd. also participated in the event, showcasing Nepal’s adventure, trekking, and travel experiences at the Nepal Pavilion.

The NTB stated that it was encouraged by the strong interest shown by US tourism entrepreneurs and travelers toward Nepal’s adventure tourism products during the two-day event, indicating Nepal’s potential to develop as a significant hub for adventure tourism. The participation also provided an opportunity to expand relations with US tourism entrepreneurs and further consolidate Nepal’s recognition as “Destination Nepal.”

On the opening day, Nepal’s Consul General to New York, Dadhiram Bhandari, visited the Nepali pavilion and interacted with the participating companies.

Discussions during the event primarily focused on exploring potential collaborations with eastern coastal US states to promote Nepal’s tourism. Uday Bhattarai and Pradeep Basnet represented the NTB at the event.
