KATHMANDU: British billionaire, political pollster and former Conservative Party deputy chairman Lord Ashcroft is currently in Nepal, visiting Pokhara.

A private jet carrying Lord Ashcroft landed at Pokhara International Airport on Thursday morning. Airport sources said the aircraft arrived from the United Kingdom via Malta and Singapore. The flight is scheduled to depart on Sunday, according to the Pokhara Airport Office.

Lord Ashcroft shared a photograph of the Machhapuchhre Himalayas and the Chhitri mountain range on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday morning, posting: “Good morning from Nepal.”

The purpose of his visit has not been officially disclosed. Sources say it remains unclear whether the trip is purely tourism-related or connected to any formal engagements, including possible philanthropic activities.

Lord Ashcroft is the founder of Michael A. Ashcroft Associates, established in 1972, and has long been a prominent figure in British politics and business. He was ranked among the UK’s richest individuals, once listed as the country’s 132nd wealthiest person.
