SUNSARI: Planning Boys United, Kathmandu, has clinched the title of the 26th International Invitational Budha Subba Gold Cup Football Tournament.
In the final match held at Dharan Stadium on Saturday, Planning Boys won the title by defeating Church Boys United 1-0.
In the first half, both teams did not score any goal. Pratap Singh Rai of Planning Boys scored a goal at the 63th minute of the match. The goal scored by Rai became decisive to clinch the title after Church Boys could not score another goal.
Church Boys became the first runner-up for the second consecutive time while Planning Boys won the title in its first participation in the tournament.
With the title, Planning Boys received Rs 1 million while the first runner-up team Church Boys got Rs 500,000 as prize.
Similarly, Pujan Thapa of Planning Boys was announced the ‘Man of the Match’ and received Rs 10,000. Pratap Singh Rai of Planning Boys was awarded with the Best Player.
He received a scooter. Likewise, Planning Boys’ Yogesh Dhimal was announced as the Best Goalkeeper while Nigma Ghising became the Best Defender as well as Rohan Karki and Abhiyomi Gosh of Church Boys were announced as the Best Midfielder and the Best Striker respectively.
They received Rs 25,000 each. The highest scorers of the Tournament—Pratap Singh Rai of Planning Boys, Aron Thapa and Rajesh Dahal of Jhapa-11 were awarded with Rs 12,000 each.
