KATHMANDU: Debris from intercepted drones has caused injuries and property damage across several Gulf cities, highlighting the widening regional impact of the ongoing Iran-Israel-US strikes.

In Abu Dhabi, fragments from an intercepted drone struck the Etihad Towers complex, which houses the Israeli embassy and several other international missions. A woman and her child suffered minor injuries, state media reported. The interception produced loud blasts heard across the emirate.

In Dubai, two people were injured after shrapnel fell on residential homes during drone interceptions. The city’s international airport, the Burj Al Arab hotel, the Palm Jumeirah, and Abu Dhabi’s airport all sustained damage. Smoke continued to rise from the Jebel Ali port, where a berth caught fire due to missile debris.

Oman’s Duqm commercial port was hit by two drones, wounding one worker, while Qatar reported a limited industrial fire after debris fell from an intercepted missile, the interior ministry said.

The attacks come in the wake of US and Israeli strikes on Iran, prompting retaliatory strikes on civilian and commercial areas across Gulf cities, affecting key aviation, trade, and tourism hubs. Dubai, the region’s largest trade and tourism center, remains particularly impacted, with its airport among the world’s busiest.
