KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued a show-cause order in response to a habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of former Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak.
A single bench of Justice Kumar Regmi directed the government to present the legal grounds for Lekhak’s arrest and to appear before the court for further hearings. The petition was filed by Lekhak’s wife, Yashoda Lekhak, challenging his detention.
Police had arrested Lekhak on Saturday for investigation related to incidents that occurred on September 08-09, 2025. His family subsequently moved the Supreme Court, alleging that he was being held in unlawful custody.
