NEPSE down 26 points despite higher turnover of Rs 6.531 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) declined by 26.16 points today, Tuesday, the second trading day of the week.

The NEPSE closed at 2,770.26 points, a decrease of 0.93 percent compared to the previous trading day. On this day, the Sensitive Index also fell by 2.14 points to settle at 467.57 points. This represents a 0.45 percent decrease from the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index dropped by 0.81 percent and the sensitive float index by 0.52 percent.

In the share market on Tuesday, at least 14,018,920 units of shares were traded through 151,354 transactions involving 349 companies. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs 6.531 billion was recorded on Tuesday. On Monday, the turnover was Rs 4.748 billion.

Share prices of only 42 companies increased in the share market today. While the share prices of 213 companies declined, 14 companies saw their share prices remain stable. Out of the 13 groups traded on NEPSE today, the sub-index of the Others group rose by 0.73 percent, while the sub-indices of the remaining 12 groups fell.

According to the data, the index for the Commercial Bank group fell by 0.84 percent, the Development Bank by 1.22, Finance by 0.61, and the Hotels and Tourism group index by 2.56 percent on Tuesday. Hydropower dropped by 1.74, investment by 0.47, life insurance by 0.16, manufacturing and processing by 2.46, microfinance by 0.44, mutual funds by 0.31, and the non-life insurance group sub-index decreased by 0.39 percent. While the Others group increased by 0.73 percent, the sub-index of the Trading group fell by 0.39 percent.

On NEPSE this Tuesday, shareholders of Himalayan Bank Limited Bond-2086 earned 4.74 percent. Conversely, investors of the Corporate Development Bank lost 14.99 percent in share value.

Palpa Cement Industries topped the list in terms of turnover amount. A turnover of Rs 583.3 million was recorded for Palpa today.

Similarly, Kumari Bank was at the forefront based on the number of shares traded today. On Tuesday, at least 998,725 units of its shares were bought and sold. Its final trading price was maintained at Rs 221 per unit.
