KATHMANDU: A Nepali man accused of assaulting two young boys at a Sydney childcare centre has now been charged over a second alleged incident involving two girls, as reported by 7NEWS Australia.

Police began investigating the case on April 24 after receiving a report that two boys, aged three and four, had allegedly been slapped by a worker at a childcare facility in Panania a day earlier.

The accused, Jayendra Jung Shahi, 24, who worked at Panania Montessori Academy in southwest Sydney, was first arrested on April 26 over the alleged assaults.

Following further investigations, detectives arrested him again on Monday afternoon from a home in Belmore.

Police allege he assaulted two girls, also aged three and four, in a separate incident.

He was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with two additional counts of common assault.

The childcare centre confirmed that his employment had been terminated after the initial allegations.

In a statement, it said the safety, health and wellbeing of children remains its top priority, adding that immediate action was taken, including reporting the matter to police and relevant authorities and dismissing the educator.
