KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balen Shah and Speaker DP Aryal held a meeting on Thursday after opposition parties repeatedly questioned the Prime Minister’s absence in the House of Representatives.

The Speaker visited the Prime Minister after adjourning the parliamentary session, where opposition lawmakers had again demanded the Prime Minister’s presence. The meeting between the two leaders lasted for around half an hour.

Opposition members of parliament have been continuously raising concerns over the Prime Minister’s absence from parliamentary proceedings. Although lawmakers have repeatedly called for the Prime Minister to attend the House, the Speaker has not issued a formal ruling directing him to appear.

The opposition has insisted that the Speaker should formally order the Prime Minister to attend the session.

Meanwhile, ministers have been responding to parliamentary questions and presenting bills in the House on behalf of the Prime Minister.
