KATHMANDU: In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, proposals to consider three separate bills were approved by a majority vote.

Despite protests from the main opposition party, the proposals to consider the House of Representatives Member Election (First Amendment) Bill, 2026 , the Voter List (First Amendment) Bill, 2026 , and the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2024 were successfully approved.

On behalf of Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Minister for Science, Technology, and Innovation Balendra Shah, the Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Sobita Gautam, presented all three proposals.

Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal stated that although he had called for names to participate in the discussion on the three proposals, no names were received, and he subsequently presented them for approval.

During the meeting, the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, stood up at their seats to protest.

Meanwhile, lawmakers from the opposition parties, CPN (UML) and Nepali Communist Party (NCP), gathered in front of the rostrum to chant slogans.
