GORKHA: A young man from Gorkha, who had gone to collect Yarsagumba (caterpillar fungus), has died after falling from a cliff.

25-year-old Prakash Gurung of Chumanuwri Rural Municipality-3, Pangsing, who had gone to pick Yarsagumba with his brothers, died after falling off a cliff.

According to ward member Bikash Gurung, the incident occurred last Wednesday while Prakash was returning after collecting Yarsagumba from the base of Buddha mountain. He added that Prakash’s body was brought back to the village and his funeral was performed on Friday according to Gurung traditions.

“Four brothers from the same family had gone to pick Yarsagumba. Prakash was walking ahead of the others,” ward member Gurung said.

“However, when he did not show up at the campsite in the evening, a search was launched, and his body was found in a glacier that night.”
