KATHMANDU: Nepal advanced to the semifinals of the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship on home soil after a dominant 3-0 straight-set victory over the Maldives at the National Sports Council (NSC) Covered Hall on Sunday.

Recovering from an opening 3-2 loss to India, Nepal now leads Group ‘A’ with 7 points from three matches, while the Maldives has been eliminated without scoring a point.

The final group standings will be decided on Monday following a crucial match between India (5 points) and Kyrgyzstan (3 points), where a straight-set win could propel Kyrgyzstan into the semifinals.

In Sunday’s other fixture, Iran comfortably defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-11).
