KATHMANDU: The National Security Guard (NSG) Everest Expedition 2026 has successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest.

The 16-member team achieved the feat at 03:26 am on May 23, 2026.

Commanded by Lt. Col. Ram Chandra Thapa, with Major Akhilesh Bhatt serving as the climbing leader and Mingma Thindu Sherpa as Sirdar, the team completed the entire expedition in just 20 days from their departure from Kathmandu.

The expedition was executed in coordination with Seven Summit Treks, whose director, Chhang Dawa Sherpa, personally managed and coordinated the operations from the very beginning.

The expedition was officially flagged off by NSG Director General Shri Brighu Srinivasan, IPS.

While on the mountain, the team extended its operations beyond climbing by running a medical camp at Everest Base Camp and participating in local garbage clean-up efforts.

The member summiters from the NSG include Climbing Leader Akhilesh Bhatt, Bavinder Singh, Bhoopendra Singh, Pankaj Singh Dosad, Rahul Singh, Ravinder Singh, Satish Kumar, Sonu, Sulinder Singh, and Suresh Kumar.

They were supported by a dedicated team of NSG Sherpa Guides, consisting of Expedition Sirdar Mingma Thinduk Sherpa, Danuru Sherpa, Lakpa Temba Sherpa, Ngima Dorchi Sherpa, Ming Dorchi Sherpa, Pemba Sherpa, Lakpa Tendu Sherpa, Furtenji Sherpa, Phurtenjen Sherpa, Dawa Rinje Sherpa, Chhangwa Sherpa, Lakpa Tasi Sherpa, Chhiring Sherpa, Pastemba Sherpa, Nima Tashi Sherpa, and Dawa Rinjin Sherpa.

This high-altitude achievement reflects the core ethos of the NSG, “Sarvatra Sarvottam Suraksha,” testing the limits of physical and mental endurance.

Established in 1984 as India’s elite counter-terrorism and rapid-reaction force, the NSG’s successful climb serves as a symbol of courage, discipline, and the enduring friendship between India and Nepal.
