Six injured in Kaligandaki Corridor crane accident

NAWALPUR: Six people were injured last night when a crane met with an accident on the Kaligandaki Corridor road section at Ranital in Gaindakot Municipality-4, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta Purba).

According to Yubaraj Khadka, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, the crane (Lu 1 Ka 4437) was heading towards Gaindakot from Dhodeni when its brakes failed on a downhill slope, causing it to crash into the wall on the left side of the road.

The accident resulted in injuries to the 25-year-old crane driver, Niraj Asrami Magar—originally from Tansen, Palpa, and currently residing in Madhyabindu-11—as well as five passengers, all residents of Madhyabindu-11: Dil Bahadur Kumal (60), Nirmal Darai (27), Purna Prasad Darai (52), Arjun Bahadur Darai (53), and Amar Darai (50).

Police reported that all the injured have been rushed to the College of Medical Sciences (New Medical College) in Bharatpur for treatment.

While the vehicle sustained significant damage and currently remains at the scene, authorities are conducting further investigations into the incident.
