KALIKOT: The Karnali Corridor, which was previously blocked due to landslides, has reopened for one-way traffic starting this morning.

Continuous rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday had obstructed the road, triggering debris-laden landslides at multiple locations along the Kalikot section of the corridor, stretching from Khulalu in Naraharinath Rural Municipality-8 to Laifu on the border of Bajura district.

According to the District Administration Office in Kalikot, landslides and mudslides had blocked various points along the Khulalu-Laifu section of the Surkhet-Humla highway due to the two days of heavy rain, but the road has now been cleared and traffic resumed.

However, Assistant Chief District Officer and Information Officer Janak Sharma cautioned that there is still a risk of falling rocks from the steep slopes above the road.

He urged travelers to exercise necessary caution, noting that the highway remains narrow and limited to one-way traffic in multiple locations.
