KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Minister for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Mahabir Pun, shared a public update regarding his first day in office, stating that everything at the new ministry is starting completely from scratch.

Unlike established ministries, the newly formed entity lacks a ready-made framework, forcing the leadership to build its entire administrative and legal foundation from the ground up.

As his first official move, Minister Pun signed a decision to draft the Science, Technology, and Innovation Act, which will establish the legal framework for the ministry.

Additionally, a decision was made to immediately conduct an Organization and Management (O&M) survey to determine the required staff strength, organizational structure, and operational methods to ensure maximum speed and efficiency.

Recognizing that research and innovation projects are currently fragmented across various government bodies, Minister Pun also initiated intensive discussions on how to centralize and advance these initiatives effectively.

“Keep watching,” Pun wrote on social media, expressing optimism as he takes on the challenge of structuring the nation’s newest ministry.
