KATHMANDU: Construction of the new House of Representatives hall at Singha Durbar has entered its final phase, with structural work finished but the sound and microphone systems still pending.

Frustrated by repeated delays, Speaker DP Aryal inspected the site alongside Parliament Secretariat officials, demanding a definitive completion date and warning contractors of a daily fine of up to Rs 10 million for further setbacks.

Directing the Ministry of Urban Development to expedite the project by working day and night, the Speaker stated that ongoing excuses are an insult to the nation.

Parliamentary sessions will continue in a temporary hall until the new venue is fully ready.
