CHITWAN: The District Administration Office has fined the Lords Plaza hotel in Bharatpur Rs 300,000 following an incident where a fish bone was found in an omelet served to Home Minister Sudhan Gurung.

The minister was in Chitwan attending the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) general convention when he stopped at the hotel near Bharatpur Airport.

Following the incident, police briefly detained and questioned two hotel employees.

A subsequent emergency inspection by a team led by the Assistant Chief District Officer revealed severe violations of the Consumer Protection Act, including the use of substandard cooking oil and expired vegetables.

Consequently, authorities imposed the hefty fine and ordered the immediate destruction of all unhygienic food materials.

Local administration has since tightened monitoring of area hotels to ensure food safety during the high-profile political convention.
