KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives on Sunday unanimously passed the National Debt Collection Bill, 2026, endorsing a proposal presented by Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle.

Responding to lawmakers during the clause-by-clause discussion, Wagle said borrowed funds would be directed toward productive infrastructure projects that improve economic efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and shorten travel time. He, however, stressed the need to closely monitor projects financed through foreign loans, citing the performance of Nepal’s two international airports.

Before the bill was passed, the House rejected amendment proposals from lawmakers Parshuram Tamang and Rekha Kumari Yadav, while Hari Prasad Bhusal withdrew his proposed amendment.
