KATHMANDU: The Hollywood film ‘Tenzing,’ based on the life of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and filmed across Nepal, will be released on October 9, with streaming on Apple TV+ beginning October 16.

Produced by Apple, the film stars Genden Phuntsok as Tenzing and Tom Hiddleston as Edmund Hillary, while Nepali actress Thinley Lhamo plays Tenzing’s wife, Dawa.

Directed by Jennifer Peedom, the movie was filmed in the Everest region, Mustang, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Bandipur and reportedly spent about Rs 150 million during its Nepal shoot. It received filming permission in Nepal under the working title ‘Tashi.’
