KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli stated that the nation’s primary urgency is defeating a “regressive conspiracy” aimed at dismantling both democracy and the communist movement.

Speaking at a Madan Bhandari Foundation event in Kathmandu, Oli claimed that the political unrest of September 8 and 9, 2025, was an undemocratic plot used to forcibly displace a legitimate government with an illegitimate one.

Emphasizing that the authority to form or dissolve governments belongs solely to parliament, he argued that defending democratic institutions must take priority over building socialism.

To counter these threats, Oli called on all democratic and left-wing forces to form an immediate functional alliance to defeat these regressive maneuvers.
